JAMES DANFORTH,
FATHER OF LOCAL
MAN, DIES HERE

James Danforth, 79, of Fairmount, Ill., died Friday night at a Grinnell hospital after an illness of the last three weeks. He was the father of Joseph Davis Danforth of Grinnell.

Services will be held early this week at Danville, Illinois. Friends may contact the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

Mr. Danforth was the son of Ebenezer and Rachel Davis Danforth and was born May 22nd, 1880, at Danville. On July 3, 1910, he was united in marriage with Bertha Garrard at Fairmount, Ill. Joseph Danforth was their only child.

Also surviving are four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and was the last surviving member of the family.

Mr. Danforth was active in the wholesale candy business, but had retired in recent years.
