LAST RITES SAID
FOR JOHN MCGEE

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home for John R. McGee, 77, of 1533 3rd Ave., who died Thursday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.

The Rev. Myron Harris officiated at the services. Organist was Mrs. Leonard Pearce.

Pallbearers were Harold Gerard, Merle Lamb, Don Baker, Jim Clementi, Richard Clementi and Kenneth Paul.

Burial was in Westfield Cemetery.

The son of William F. and Ida Jump? McGee, Mr. McGee was born May 19, 1894, at Mendota, Mo. He attended school in that community.

On Nov. 2, 1940, he married Viola Burwell at Montezuma. After their marriage the couple lived in Grinnell where Mr. McGee was a carpenter and for many years was employed by the York Lumber Company.

Survivors include his wife, Viola; three children -- Mrs. Don (Bessie) Alexander of Boone, Loren McGee of Chicago and Mrs. Tony (Opal) Kauzlarich of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; his great grandchildren; three step-children -- William Stevenson of Kellogg, Mrs. Eugene O'Brien and Mrs. Walter Ahrens of Des Plaines, Ill.; seven step-grandchildren, and 15 step great-grandchildren.

Mr. McGee was the last surviving member of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
