BRENT TUGGLE
DIES SUNDAY

Brent Tuggle, 73, of 627 Main Street, died early Sunday morning at Grinnell General Hospital following a stroke suffered a few hours earlier.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Pallbearers will be: Harold Brown, Larry Criswell, Roy Criswell, Eldred W. Cox, Donovan Evans and DeLoss Phelps. Organist is Mrs. Willard Heffner, and vocalists are the Rev. and Mrs. David Leeper.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, should friends desire.

The son of Hile and Martha Sexton Tuggle, he was born on January 30, 1902 at Monticello, Kentucky. He attended the schools near his home and later, on August 21, 1926, he was married to Ottie Upchurch at Monticello.

In 1927, Mr. and Mrs. Tuggle came to Iowa and farmed for a time south of Grinnell. They then returned to Kentucky for a brief period.

In 1936 they returned to the Grinnell area to farm, and moved to town in 1945. Brent was employed for 16 years with the Iowa Southern Utilities before his retirement 11 years ago.

He was a member of the First Baptist church and the Men's Club of the church.

He is survived by his wife, Ottie; one daughter, Mrs. James (Virginia) Severe of Grinnell; 3 grandchildren, Mrs. Richard (Becky) Billman; and Gay and Milton Severe of Grinnell. Also surviving is one great-grandson, Gregory Billman; and a brother and sister, Taylor Tuggle of Monticello, Kentucky; and Mrs. Walter (Knoxie) Richardson of Yorba Linda, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
