ADABETH POWELL

Adabeth Powell, 84, died Sept. 1, 2006, in Webster, Texas.

Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 4, in Graceland Cemetery in Meade, Kan. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Harlan, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice. Donations directly to the family will go toward a headstone for her gravesite in Meade.

She was born April 4, 1922, in Kensett, Iowa, the daughter of Dave and Gladys Huffman Maupin. She was a former resident of Harlan and worked at Myrtue Memorial Hospital. She also lived in Meade, Kan., and Apache Junction (AZ) and League City, Texas. She was married in November, 1943, to Reese Delbert Ellett who died in 1947. She was married in October, 1949, to James Henry Powell who died in 1962.

She is survived by one son, two daughters, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two brothers.
