GEORGE ARTHUR, 78,
DIES THIS MORNING;
RITES WEDNESDAY

George Arthur of 1111 Spring St. died this morning (Monday) at a local hospital. He was 78.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Wednesday from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Lester Williams, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodland cemetery at Lynnville.

The son of William and Elizabeth Shroyer Arthur, he was born on November 3, 1883. For 14 years he made his home at Rochester, Minn., where he was employed by a clinic.

Later he came to the Grinnell community and farmed southwest of here. Nine years ago he retired due to ill health and moved to Grinnell.

Mr. Arthur is survived by his sister, Mrs. Edward (Mabel) Carnes of Grinnell and a brother, Calvin Arthur of Hollandale, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Miller; and two brothers, Perry and Louis Arthur.
