MRS. B.P. BALDWIN
DIES AFTER ILLNESS

Memorial services for Mrs. Bertha P. Baldwin, a resident of the Mayflower Home, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wed., Feb. 5. Mrs. Baldwin, 95, passed away Thursday morning at Grinnell General Hospital East, following an extended illness.

The daughter of Russell and Dorothy Schmitt Park, she was born on Feb. 6, 1873 at Fontanelle, Neb. Her parents later moved to Denmark, Ia., where she attended the Denmark Academy. She also attended Carlton College.

Mrs. Baldwin was united in marriage to Horace Baldwin on Dec. 30, 1908. The couple lived in Northfield, Minn., where Mr. Baldwin preceded his wife in death on March 12, 1934. Mrs. Baldwin taught in a school for the deaf in Faribault, Minn., and after the death of her husband she lived in Ann Arbor, Mich. In 1964 she came to Grinnell and has made her home at the Mayflower Home.

Mrs. Baldwin, a member of the Congregational Church of Northfield, Minn., was the last survivor of nine children, and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Horace, a daughter Elizabeth, four sisters, two brothers, a half-sister, and a half-brother. She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Lawrence Murphy and Rev. Walter Schilling will officiate at memorial services for Mrs. Baldwin, to be held at the Dennison Chapel in the Mayflower Home. Ruth Campbell will be the pianist. Interment will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery at Northfield, Minn. The James-Schalinske Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
