Mr. Breeden came to pioneer stock, being among the first children to be born in or near Grinnell. His entire life was lived in the community in and about Grinnell. He engaged in farming until 1900, when he moved to the city of Grinnell to make his home. On January 17, 1884 he was united in marriage to Mary Emma Cox of the home community. To this union one child was born, a son, Floyd L. Breeden of Grinnell. Besides his son he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Emma Breeden, a grandson, Lyle A. Breeden of California, and three great grandchildren, Howard Lee, Carol K. and Leonard Thomas Breeden, all of California.

In young manhood Mr. Breeden joined in the fellowship of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist church in his home community, and never transferred his membership to any other church. He has been an ardent student of the Bible practically all his life. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Grinnell.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church with burial in Hazelwood. Rev. C.D. Loose conducted the services with Professor Elias Blum at the organ.
