MRS. MARY BRAYTON MEETEER

Mary C. Brayton was born Oct. 12th, 1833, near Lake George, N.Y., where she spent her childhood and early womanhood. Then she moved to Michigan and later to Illinois. She spent ten years of her early life in teaching. In 1859 she was married to Samuel T. Meeteer. After 18 years spent in farming near Chicago the family moved to Kansas where they made their home till they moved to Grinnell in 1894.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Dr. E.C. Bliss, and three grandchildren to mourn her loss. Her husband and a son preceded her to the world above.

For 70 years Mrs. Meeteer was a member of the Methodist church which always received her love and loyalty.

She was a woman of great faith and courage, and sympathy for all in affliction--and having finished her course she approached the hour of her transformation to the higher sphere with joy.
