GRACE BELDEN

Grace Belden, 96, formerly of Grinnell, died Saturday, Aug. 31, at Arboridge Care Center in Galesburg, Mich.

Private graveside services will be conducted at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

She was the daughter of Mark M. and Mariva Brooks Belden and was born May 10, 1900, in Adair County. She received her public school education in Grinnell and earned a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College. She taught in Adair County rural schools before earning a bachelor's degree in education from Iowa State. She later received a master's degree in education from the University of Michigan.

She taught school in Iowa, Ohio and Michigan and retired from Huron Valley Township Schools, Huron, Mich., in 1965.

After her retirement she lived in Riverview and Wyandotte, Mich., as well as Denver, Colo., for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Michigan Education Association.

There are no immmediate survivors.
