RITES HELD FOR
LJ DUEY, 68

LJ Duey, 68, Waverly, formerly of Grinnell, died Monday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center of respiratory problems.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the United Methodist church in Waverly with burial in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Graham, Mo. He lived near Sharpsburg and Clearfield, graduating from Clearfield High School in 1937. He graduated from Iowa State College, Ames, in 1942. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. He was united in marriage with Marianna Brown. In 1946 he entered graduate school at Iowa State College, then worked for the United States Soil Conservation Service, moving to Newton in 1946. In 1954 he began farming south of Grinnell where he remained until 1966, when he and Mrs. Duey moved to an acreage near Waverly.

He is survived by his wife Marianna, Waverly; three sons Philip, Waukee, Dr. Jerry, Clinton, and Robert, Springfield, Ore.; six grandchildren and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Joyce Ann in infancy and one sister.
