HUGH MEACHAM
DIES AT 90

Hugh Alfred Meacham, 90, of 928 Summer St., Grinnell, died Tuesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.

Mr. Meacham willed his body to medical science. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information. Should friends desire, memorials in Mr. Meacham's name may be made to the United Church of Christ-Congregational.

The son of Orlando and Mary Alter Meacham, he was born Oct. 13, 1885, near Clay, Iowa. He attended rural school near his home and later attended Iowa State University.

On June 3, 1916, he was married to Hazel Irene Clark in Clay. The couple had two children. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Meacham farmed in Washington County and later near Malcom. In 1938, they moved to a farm south of Grinnell, and in 1945 they moved to Grinnell.

Mr. Meacham was a life-long member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Clay and Grinnell. He was a 50-year member of Richland Lodge No. 38, A.F. & A.M. in Richland and had been a member of the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Hazel; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Alice) Williams of Ambler, Pa.; one son, H. Alfred Meacham of Rte. 1; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edith Chester of Menlo, Wash.; and two brothers, Allen Meacham of Indianola, Wash., and Donald Meacham of Lorraine, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Miss Ethel Meacham, Miss Clara Meacham and Mrs. Frank (Blanche) Brown.
