RITES SET FOR MRS. SHIFFLETT

Grace A. Shifflett, 99, died Friday morning, Nov. 23, at Boulder Manor Nursing Home in Boulder, Colo.

She was the widow of J. Glenn Shifflett, a promient Grinnell attorney who died in 1951.

Graveside services for Mrs. Shifflett will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Pallbearers will be John F. Bierman, Robert Mistler, John S. Ransom, Dr. C.P. Wilkinson, and James G. Wilkinson.

Memorials in Mrs. Shifflett's name may be made to the Grinnell General Hospital Auxiliary, Stewart Library, or the United Church of Christ-Congregational and left at the Smith Funeral Home.

The daughter of George Joseph and Eldora Colony Alt, she was born March 30, 1885, at Tiffin. She attended Iowa City Academy from 1900 to 1903 and graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. degree in 1907.

She was married to James Glenn Shifflett at her parents' home in Tiffin. Following their marriage, they lived in Grinnell. Mrs. Shifflett had lived in Boulder for the past 20 years.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational, Chapter B.M. of P.E.O., the Order of Eastern Star, the Priscilla Club, the Attawasios Club, the D.A.R., and the former Community Hospital Auxiliary. She had also taken an active interest in Stewart Library.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Wilkinson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Helen Ruth Ransom.
