RITES TODAY

Alma E. Luecht, 76, of 817-1/2 Commercial St., Grinnell, died Friday morning, Nov. 4, at the Senior Home in Montezuma.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcus Reitz of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers will be Bill Luecht, Gerrit Luecht, David Steffen, Kenneth Steffen, Tom Steffen and Howard Strong. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Carl and Augusta Marie Carston Steffen, she was born Aug. 24, 1907, near Victor. She attended rural school near the family farm.

On Dec. 8, 1927, she was married to John W. "Jack" Luecht at Montezuma. The couple lived at Montezuma and later near Victor.

In the mid-1940s, the family moved to Grinnell where Mrs. Luecht was employed by the Grinnell Tent and Awning Co. She worked in the Food Service Department at Grinnell College for over 20 years, retiring in 1972.

She is survived by her children, Richard A. Luecht of North Port, Fla., Robert W. Luecht of Whitehall, Pa., John J. Luecht of Malcom and Jim W. Luecht of Sterling, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Steffen and Heinrich Steffen, both of Malcom; and two sisters, Elsie Graham of Des Moines and Erna Strong of Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Margaret M. Luecht; four brothers, Harold, Arnold, Otto and Alfred Steffen; and two sisters, Louise and Wanda Steffen.
