JOHN LUECHT RITES FRIDAY

John W. "Jack" Luecht, 67, of 817-1/2 Commercial St., Grinnell, died Monday evening at Grinnell General Hospital. He had been ill with cancer the past several months.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with Arthur R. Weiss, intern seminarian at St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Rennt and Maria Nannen Luecht, he was born Jan. 23, 1909, in Maynard. His family moved to Riceville where he attended school. He later moved to Deep River.

On Dec. 8, 1927, he was married to Alma Elizabeth Steffen in Montezuma. The couple had five children. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Luecht farmed near Brooklyn and Victor before moving to Montezuma in 1932. They moved to Grinnell in 1945.

Mr. Luecht helped in the construction of the Mayflower Home and Grinnell College. For the last few years, he had been employed at Miracle Recreation Equipment Co. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Alma; four sons, Richard A. Luecht of Northport, Fla., Robert W. Luecht of Babylon, N.Y., John J. Luecht of Malcom, and Jim W. Luecht of Sterling, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters, Gerhardt, Deidrick, and Ralph Luecht, all of Mason City, Mrs. Ricka Mathews of Charles City, Mrs. Joanna Gentz of Johnstown, Colo., Zeke Luecht of Pueblo, Colo., Mrs. Helen Fisher of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Betty Cummings of Waterloo, and Mrs. Grace Peterson of Rockford, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Margaret Marie, who died in infancy; and one sister, Maria Luecht.
