FORMER RESIDENT
DIES IN ARKANSAS

Rites were held in Hot Springs, Ark., on March 19th for Charles Herbert Campbell, former Grinnell area resident who died on March 17th. Burial was in the family plot at Dysart, Iowa.

The youngest son of John and Mary Campbell, he was born Oct. 4th, 1875, south of Traer and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Bryant in Hot Springs, Ark.

As a young man he worked in the rural vicinity of Traer and moved to Dysart in 1896 with his parents. He was united in marriage with Bessie May Clough on Aug. 9th, 1899. They resided in Dysart until 1927 when they moved to the crossroads of highways 6 and 63 six miles east of Grinnell and erected an oil station and lunch room and landscaped the lawns for picnics and community gatherings.

They operated this establishment for 20 years before selling out in 1947 and moving to Malcom where they lived for four years. In 1953 they bought a home in Grinnell.

In 1957 they sold their home here and moved to Hot Springs, Ark., to live with their only child.

Survivors include his wife, daughter, and two nieces. Mr. Campbell was the last surviving member of the immediate Campbell family and was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
