CHARLES LANE
PASSES AWAY

Charles Lane passed away Thursday morning at 10:20, at 715 Fourth avenue, aged 66 years and one month. He was stricken with apoplexy, and was paralyzed in the right leg and arm. Mr. Lane was a familiar figure around Grinnell, having lived here for many years.

The funeral will be held at the Smith funeral parlors at 10:30 Saturday morning. The Rev. J.L. Frederick of Grinnell will conduct the services.

Charles Levi Lane was born in Hillsdale, Mich., August 21, 1861, the son of Bertus Lane and Hanna Sebring Lane. He came to this neighborhood forty-seven years ago and has lived here since, an industrious and respected citizen. In 1887 he was married in Grinnell to Martha Jane Chesser, who survies him with one son, Roy T. Lane of Clear Lake. He is also survived by a step son, Arthur Wisecarver Lane, one brother, Bert Lane of Eldora, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Watson, of Grinnell. One sister preceded him in death. There are four grandchildren, Ranseford, James, Donald and Marilyn Lane, all of Clear Lake.
