ELAINE WARREN MEMORIAL SET

Elaine Small Warren, 60, of 6274 Edsall Rd., Alexandria, Va., died of a stroke Friday, March 13, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredricksburg, Va.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Russell D. Rasmussen of Grinnell officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 20.

An Elaine Small Warren Memorial Fund has been established, and contributions may be sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell 50112.

The daughter of David and Eva Johnson McDowell, she was born on Sept. 16, 1926, in Chicago, Ill. The family moved to Grinnell where she graduated from Grinnell High School in 1944. She also attended Grinnell College and worked at the college as a secretary for a short time. In 1961 she moved to Alexandria and worked for the Evans Farm Inn. Her stepfather and mother had operated Small's Jewelry and Leather Store in Grinnell for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry B. Johnson of Springfield, Va.; one son, Ronald H. of Laguna Hills, Calif.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell L. Johnson, in 1980; her parents; and one daughter, Claudia M. McCarry.
