HORACE BLISS, 75,
DIES FOLLOWING
EXTENDED ILLNESS

Horace T. Bliss, 75, of 507 Fourth Avenue, died Thursday afternoon at a local hospital where he had been a patient for the past six years.

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon (Monday) from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. Laverne Streich, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, officiating. Interment was in the Colfax, Iowa, cemetery.

Vocal music at the services was provided by Mrs. Ella Williams, accompanied by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner at the organ. Pallbearers were Champ Delk, Dale Adkins, Marvin Cooper, Alvin Adkins, Loren Elliott, and Kenneth Shook.

The son of George E. and Florence Mathews Bliss, he was born on Apr. 15th, 1889, at Shenandoah, Iowa. He attended the schools of that community and for the past 15 years had lived in Grinnell, employed by local contractors as a carpenter.

In June of 1929, at Buffalo Center, he was united in marriage with Mary Marion. She preceded him in death on Nov. 30th, 1958.

He is survived by his brothers, Howard Bliss of Natchez, Miss., Paul Bliss of Amherst, Va., and Fred Bliss of Lake Mills, Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Edith Dusenberry of Bozeman, Mont.
