--The funeral of E.R. Porter took place at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. E.M. Vittum. The exercises were short and impressive, consisting of the reading of the usual service, followed by a few remarks on the character, work and readiness of the deceased to go whenever the summons should come. This with singing of a couple of favorite hymns completed the exercises at the house. A long procession followed the remains to their last resting place in Hazelwood. Most of the stores in town were closed during the funeral.
