OBITUARY.

MRS. E.L. NICHOLL

Mrs. E.L. Nicholl died Sunday afternoon at 4:40 o'clock at the home of her son Edmond J. Nicholl in Grinnell, after a two days illness of pneumonia, at the age of 83 years and 9 months. She had been paralyzed for the past ten years, and had borne this affliction with great courage.

Ellen Louise Brown was born in New York City on Feb. 20, 1833. She was united in marriage in New York City to Robert Nicholl in Janaury, 1850. Eleven children were born to this union, three of whom survive her: J.C. Nicholl of Auburn, Neb.; Mrs. Fletcher Layton, of Denver, Colo.; and Edmond J. Nicholl, of Grinnell.

Mrs. Nicholl came to Iowa in 1880, residing in and around Colfax until four years ago, when she came to Grinnell to make her home with her son Ed.

Short services will be held at the home Wednesday morning at 8:30, conducted by Rev. A.C. Stowe, after which the body will be taken to Colfax for burial.

The son, Edmond J. Nicholl, with whom she made her home, is a valued employe of The Herald and foreman in The Herald office. All his associates here as well as his many friends in Grinnell, offer sincere sympathy to him in this time of sorrow.
