LAST RITES FOR
BEN ARVIDSON

Rites were held at the Methodist Church in Montezuma Wednesday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. for Ben Arvidson with Rev. Geo. Snyder officiating. Interment was in Jackson Township cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stahl sang "Rock of Ages" and "God Be With You" with Esther Moore as accompanist. Casket bearers were Ross Meldrem, Chas. Johnston, Tom Gauley, Carl Pearson, Earnest Peterson and Rae Longmore.

OBITUARY

O.A. (Ben), son of B.P. and Sanna Arvidson, was born in Tarpa, Sweden on March 13, 1878, and passed away on March 22, 1959, at his home in Montezuma, at the age of 81 years.

When a child he was confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Sweden. At the age of seventeen years he came to Iowa. On December 12, 1900 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Peterson and to this union eight children were born. Their entire married life of more than 58 years was spent in the Montezuma community. For 47 years they lived on the same farm northeast of Montezuma. About three months ago they moved to their present home in Montezuma.

Mr. Arvidson was preceded in death by two sons, Harold and Carl, and one grandson, Keith. Besides his wife he is survived by six children: Ruth Heisdorffer of Sigourney; Emil of Brooklyn; Viola McDowell, Melvin, Elmer, and Donald, all of Montezuma; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; other relatives and many friends.
