VERNA SEABORG, 97

Verna Marie Seaborg, 97, of Manson, Iowa, died Wednesday afternoon, February 4,1998 at the Manson Good Samaritan Center.

A funeral was February 8 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, Iowa. Officiating was Rev. Stephen Jasch of St. John Lutheran Church in Grinnell.

Miss Alice Underwood was the organist and Mrs. Betty Snook, soloist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were Lynn Carl, Craig Doster, Gary Lafrenz, Alan Doster, Michael Doster and Ronald Lafrenz.

Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

Verna was born November 28, 1900 in Lohrville, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Ellen (Wickland) Peterson. She attended rural school in Scott Township.

On March 15, 1921 she was united in marriage with Peter Seaborg in Montezuma. The couple farmed in this area until 1936 when they moved to Calhoun County. They continued to farm until 1946 when they moved into Manson.

Mr. Seaborg died May 1, 1976.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Helen Doster; two sisters; three brothers; one great-granddaughter and one great-great-granddaughter.

She is survived by three daughters, Alene Stewart of Gilroy, Calif.; Frances Carl of Montezuma and Maxine Lafrenz of Clear Lake, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center in Manson, Iowa.
