MRS. CLIFTON
DIES AT 87

Mrs. Minnie E. Clifton, 87, the wife of George R. Clifton of 1407 Sixth Ave., Grinnell, died Sunday afternoon at Grinnell General Hospital.

Mrs. Clifton had willed her body to medical science. Should friends desire, memorials in Mrs. Clifton's name may be made to the Day Care Center at St. Francis Manor. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

The daughter of Horace and Lois Simpson Lowrey, she was born April 7, 1888, in Victor, where she attended public schools. On June 15, 1915, she was married to George Richard Clifton in Grinnell. The couple had two daughters, Elizabeth and Lois.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton made their home in Grinnell. Mrs. Clifton was a member of the Methodist Church in Victor and was a charter member of Pi Rho Lambda. She had worked at the former Broadway Department Store.

Survivors include her husband, George; her two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Elizabeth J.) Wood of Grinnell and Mrs. Al (Lois M.) Meacham of Rte. 1, Grinnell; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four sisters, Mrs. Jean Palmer, Mrs. Lois Corwin and Miss Sarah Lowrey, all of Grinnell, and Mrs. Margaret Welsh of Sterling, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jamie and Homer; and one sister, Mrs. Gould Barnes.
