REACHES END OF
A LONG LIFE

Mrs. H.S. Lowrey, who for 39 years had made her home at 1407 Sixth avenue in what everybody had learned to call "the Lowrey house," died on Friday afternoon after a short illness. She would have been 84 years old on her next birthday, May 17.

Private funeral services conducted by Rev. W.B. Wilson and attended only by members of the family, were held at the home Sunday morning, with burial in Hazelwood cemetery. Pallbearers were two sons-in-law, Harry Barnes and George Clifton and two grandsons, Douglas and Philip Palmer.

Mrs. Lowrey was born in Hillsdale county, Ill. Her maiden name was Lois Simpson. When she was 9 years old the family moved to Victor, where she grew to womanhood and where she was married to H.S. Lowrey who preceded her in death in 1926.

Eight children grew up in this happy, hospitable home, all of whom survive. They are James of Victor, Lois (Mrs. W.J.) Corwin of Mexico, N.Y., Minnie (Mrs. George R.) Clifton of Grinnell, Sarah of Oswego, N.Y., Homer B. of Grinnell, Jean (Mrs. H.G.) Palmer of Cedar Falls, Margaret (Mrs. H.A.) Welch, of Washington, D.C., and Gould (Mrs. H.G.) Barnes of Iowa City. All the children except Mrs. Corwin and Sarah were able to attend the funeral.

Mrs. Lowrey was a wholesome woman with far reaching activities. She had been an active member of the Methodist church all her life long. For 20 years she served on the board of the Community hospital. She was active in the Ladies Cemetery association and was a member of the Sunset and Drummond clubs and of the D.A.R. She will be remembered with deep affection by all those whose lives have been touched by hers during her long residence in this community.
