DIED.

DR. HESSEL BECKMAN

A telegram received by Dr. P.E. Somers yesterday announced the death in Rochester, Minn., on Tuesday, of Dr. Hessel Beckman. Death was caused by a septic infection from a wound in the hand received by Dr. Beckman while operating.

Dr. Beckman was a classmate of Dr. Somers in Grinnell college, graduating here in 1894. The family home was in Grinnell during his college course, and for some time after, so that he was well known not only among the students, but also to the people of the town. After graduating here he had studied medicine and had developed into one of the country's most promising surgeons. He was one of the leading surgeons of the Mayo sanitarium in Rochester, and a number of Grinnell people have enjoyed the benefit of his skilled services.
