OBITUARY
--------------
WILLIAM N. TUTTLE

William N. Tuttle was born in Otisco, N.Y., Nov. 25, 1828, and passed away in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, on November 14, 1917, aged 88 years, 11 months and 20 days. He grew to manhood in Otisco, and in 1855 came to Minnesota while it was still a territory, and pioneered there until 1859. He returned to Otisco, and on December 29, 1859, was married there to Mrs. Lucy S. Howe-Stanley.

Mr. and Mrs. Tuttle continued to reside on the farm at Otisco until 1899, when, on the fortieth anniversary of their marriage, they came to Manchester, Iowa, to make their home with their son, Rev. H.W. Tuttle. In 1905 Mr. Tuttle moved with his son to Grinnell, and in June of 1917 went with him to Kingfisher when he was called to take the presidency of Kingfisher college.

Mr. Tuttle was a lifelong member of the Congregational Church, was for many years deacon and Sunday school superintendent in Otisco, and was a man of unusually unselfish spirit, of kindly dispostion and was friendly toward all good things.

Of late years he had been failing in strength, so that his death was not unexpected, though he had seemed as usual and was up and dressed on the day he died.

He leaves one foster daughter, Mary A. Tuttle, of Syracuse, N.Y., and a son, Henry W. Tuttle, who, with his family, resides at Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 Saturday morning, in charge of Rev. E.M. Vittum. Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery. The pallbearers were H.C. Morse, Pearl Garner, E.J. Hadley and William Bader.
