CLAUDINE REMPP

Claudine Rempp, third child of Lee and Bertha Crisman, was born Dec. 28, 1903 in Ottumwa, and died June 26, 1990 following a short stay in Grinnell hospital. She was 86 years of age.

Claudine attended Drake University at Des Moines, and prepared to become a teacher. In 1924 she came to Montezuma and taught several years before marrying Paul Rempp on June 20, 1928 at Des Moines. To this union two children were born and reared on farms east of Montezuma.

After Paul died in 1951, she moved to town and went back to teaching school until she retired in 1969. She was a dedicated first grade teacher and the children loved her smile and friendship. She was a long-time member of the Jackson Church of Christ, playing the piano for both services until she was past 80 years. She was also a member of Beulah Club, Mothers Club and Farm Bureau.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers and one great grandddaughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce and her husband, Don Hall, and one son, William Lee and his wife, Marjorie, all of Montezuma; nine grandchildren: Cyndy Smith, Becky Bilbro, Shari McWilliams, Karen Murillo, Rick Hall, Rhonda Steele, Jeff Hall, Denise Harlan and Kevin Rempp; 16 great grandchildren; her special friend, Lucille DeJong and other relatives and many friends.

Services were 10 a.m. June 28 at Jackson Church of Christ, Montezuma. Rev. Dennis Dorsheimer of the church officiated with music provided by Darrell Brand, soloist, Marilyn Helmick, organist, and Mary Van Baalen, pianist. Selections were "Finally Home" and "Under His Wings."

Casket bearers were Kevin Rempp, Rick Hall, Jeff Hall, Jim Bilbro, Steve Harlan, John McWilliams, David Steele and Ray Murillo with interment in the Masonic-IOOF cemetery, Montezuma, with arrangements by Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma.
