IDA HIBBETS BORN
NEAR MONTEZUMA

Sorrowing relatives and friends, including many former students, attended the funeral services Aug. 20 at the Steffy Funeral Home for Mrs. Ida Gordon Hibbets. The services were conducted by the Rev. George S. Snyder, pastor of the Montezuma Methodist church, in the absence of her pastor, the Rev. G.R. Dieken of the First Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Masonic I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Mrs. Hibbets was born Ida Gordon, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Gordon, Sr., just west of the present county home, Sept. 9, 1870. She was educated in the Montezuma schools and at Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls. She taught in the rural schools near Montezuma, at Cresco, and for about 20 years in the Montezuma school system.

Married in 1903 to Dr. U.M. Hibbets, Grinnell, she is survived by a stepson, George Hibbets, seven nephews: Dr. Ed Gordon; Dr. W.E. Gordon; Dr. Cliff Gorden, Sioux City; Dr. Ferris Gordon, Marshalltown; Harold and Harlen Sanders, Barnes City, and Gordon Sanders.

Five nieces also survive. They are Miss Ida Gordon, Mrs. J.J. Boatman and Mrs. Margaret McNeil, Montezuma; Mrs. Ethel Gott, Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Ida Lowe, Barnes City.
