Alice Edith McLain

Mrs. Alice Edith McLain was born July 16, 1881, at Ewart, Iowa, and passed to her reward July 8, 1921, at the age of 39 years, 11 months and 23 days. She was united in marriage to John McLain of Grinnell, January 1, 1901, having lived at this place for a year after their marriage, and then moved to Mohall, N. Dak., where they took up a homestead. Battling with the hardships and discouragements of a new country they worked side by side building up a true home where peace and love reigned supreme.

By her cheerful and kind disposition she won many dear friends, always speaking words of cheer and comfort to the discouraged, filling their hearts with new hope and courage.

The parents of the deceased, having been Christians, bringing her under such infuence taught her to love and serve the Lord. During her illness she often mentioned the fact that if the Lord willed she was ready to go to be with Jesus and her loved ones who had gone before. While her illness was lengthy she bore it with patience, speaking to all about Jesus.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, three boys, Raymond, aged 15 years, Kenneth, 13, and Ralph, 11. Besides these she leaves a father, Mr. James Cooper, three sisters, Mrs. Ella Long, Mrs. Alma Johnson, Miss Mary Cooper, and one brother, James A. Cooper, besides a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in Mohall, Sunday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Chas. H. Beck, pastor of the Nazarene church. Burial in the Mohall cemetery.
