Emma McDonough
Rites Friday

Emma McDonough, 88, of Rte. 3, Grinnell died suddenly Tuesday noon at her home.

The daughter of John and Caroline Schnell, Mrs. McDonough was born on Jan. 5, 1881 near Killduff, Iowa. She received her education in the schools of this community.

On Nov. 23, 1906 she was married to Cassius McDonough. Following their marriage they farmed in the Highland community near Killduff, Iowa for ten years and also for ten years in the Bethel community. In 1926 they moved to their farm north of Grinnell where Mrs. McDonough continued to make her home until her death. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Grinnell.

Survivors include her four sons--Ivan, Glen and Homer, all of Grinnell and Carl of Gainesville, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Bunse of Milwaukee, Wis.

Mrs. McDonough was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 28, 1960; a daughter who passed away in infancy; four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Mrs. McDonough will be Friday afternoon at 2:00 at the St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Marcus E. Reitz will officiate and interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Organist will be Doris Nothnagel.

Serving as pallbearers will be her four sons Ivan, Glen, Homer and Carl and her two grandsons, Edward McDonough and Virgil McDonough.

Friends may call at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home until Friday morning and thereafter at the Lutheran Church.
