Glenn A. McDonough

Glenn A. McDonough, 77, of Rte. 3, Grinnell, died Sunday, March 8, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Arvid Dixen officiating. Organist was Margaret Amo.

Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Brian, Scott, Kyle and Bradley McDonough; Paul, Charles and Heather Hildreth; and Eric, Tad and Melinda Van Zante.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The son of Hugh and Emma Schnell McDonough, he was born April 27, 1914, on the family farm in Jasper County. He was a 1933 graduate of Grinnell High School.

He was married to Almira Nieman Jan. 6, 1940, in Clarksville. Following their marriage they farmed for many years northeast of Grinnell.

Mr. McDonough was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Ruritan Club.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Howard of Grinnell; two daughters, Barbara Van Zante of Grinnell and Carolyn Hildreth of Ankeny; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Homer of Grinnell and Carl of Gainesville, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Byron; one brother, Ivan; and one sister, Alice.
