MRS. NANCY JANE JACKSON

Nancy Jane Rucker was born March 24, 1834, in Koxville, Ind. When 13 years of age she moved to Illinois. At the age of 18 she was married to Mr. George W. Jackson. In 1852 Mr. and Mrs. Jackson came to Iowa and settled first near Iowa City. Their next move was to Grinnell in 1883, and this has been her home for just a little over a third of a century.

Mrs. Jackson was left a widow 26 years ago. A family of eight children has received her constant attention, and she was a true mother to the very last. Of the children, Mrs. Sarah Brown and Charles Jackson have passed away before the mother. Those remaining are Mrs. Mary Merrill of this city, at whose home she died, George J. Jackson and Fred Jackson, with whom the mother lived until a short time ago; Mrs. Martha Brown of Oregon City, Ore., Albert J. of Nebraska, and Frank Jackson of Newton, Ia. Mrs. Jackson also leaves two sisters and a brother who live in California.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of Mrs. Merrill at 1514 West street, and were in charge of Rev. W.R. Lawrence of the United Presbyterian church.
