KELLOGG PIONEER DIED ON TUESDAY

John D. Wood, one of the leading pioneer farmers of Kellogg, died Tuesday morning at 6:15 o'clock after several years of failing health brought on by his advanced age and other ailments.

Mr. Wood was born in Ohio 75 years ago last September and has lived in this community since a very young man. Coming to Kellogg when the country was still new he settled in the vicinity of Kellogg where he still remained. Mr. Wood was the father of two children. One little daughter three years of age preceded him in death and his son Sherman has lived near his father's home and has assisted in his care during his long illness.

*Mrs. Wood, too, has been most tender and patient in the care of the devoted husband who has been ailing for so many months.

Mr. Wood was the eldest of a family of 11 children and was the first of the family to be taken by death. He is survived by five brothers, James, Grant, Henry, Alex and William all of Iowa and five sisters. Three of the sisters reside in Iowa and one in Chicago and one in California.

For years Mr. Wood was an active member of the Pleasant View church.

Funeral services for Mr. Wood were held Thursday afternoon.

First wife was Bethania Masteller, who died in 1880 and buried in Slagel Cem.
