EMMA F. STEWART

Emma F. Stewart, 74, of 625 Reed St., Grinnell, died of complications of diabetes Tuesday, Feb. 23, at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Pallbearers were Adam Dawson; Mark Lloyd; Joshua, Richard and Travis Pagel; and Robert Stewart. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Tony and Blanche Novak Vanous, she was born Oct. 11, 1924, in Cedar Rapids. She was raised in Marengo and Grinnell and attended Grinnell High School. She then was employed at the Grinnell Shoe Co.

She was married to Phillip R. Stewart Nov. 3, 1947, in Kellogg. They lived in Grinnell where Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker.

Surviving are two daughters, Connie Stewart of Santa Monica, Calif., and Betty Pagel of Brooklyn; one son, Robert of Grinnell; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetic Association.
