AXEL SANDSTROM, 95, RESIDENT OF MALCOM, SUCCUMBS RECENTLY

Funeral services were held Feb. 27 for Axel Hildur Sandstrom, 95, of Malcom, with the Rev. S.C. Blumhagen, pastor of the Burnside Baptist church, officiating. Burial was at the Dayton, Iowa, cemetery.

Mr. Sandstrom died Feb. 23.

The son of Otto and Christine Sandstrom, he was born at Narke, Ostergotland, Sweden, on August 3, 1866. He settled in the United States in the Dayton-Burnside vicinity of Iowa in 1888, and was engaged in farming.

In 1898 he was united in marriage with Anna Thomas, who preceded him in death on June 11, 1923. To this union were born three children, Laverne of Malcom, James of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Adelia Berg of Riverside, Calif.

Also surviving are two grandchildren and one sister.

Mr. Sandstrom moved to Malcom in 1943 with his son, Laverne.

He was confirmed in the Lutheran church of Sweden. Later, he became a member of the Baptist church of Burnside, serving as a trustee and delegate.
