GERTRUDE CHRISTIAN

A funeral Mass for Mrs. Gertrude Christian, 82, of Drumright, Okla., was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. Mrs. Christian, a former resident of Brooklyn, died Friday Dec. 9, 1983, in a nursing home in Drumright.

Rev. Fr. Karl Holtkamp, pastor of St. Patrick's, was the Celebrant. The organist was Mrs. Francis Kriegel. Casket-bearers were Rene Bazyn, William Simmons, Maynard Saylor, Cam Dhooge, Julian DeGeeter, and Wallace Scott.

A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Monday, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Gertrude Louise Mariman Christian, daughter of Theophil Mariman and Josephine Minnaert Mariman, was born Jan. 5, 1901, in Atkinson, Ill. She was united in marriage to William Christian in 1920 in Atkinson, Ill. They farmed near Victor until 1953 when they moved into Brooklyn. Mr. Christian died in 1965. In 1979 Mrs. Christian moved to Oklahoma.

Mrs. Christian was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a former member of St. Bridget's Church of Victor. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughters, Frances, Mrs. Glen Gerard of Estes Park, Colo., and Mrs. Teresa Godwin of Bristow, Okla.; and one son, Camiel of Sherman, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Sophia Flomint, of Atkinson, Ill., seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Christian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother and a grandson.
