FORMER RESIDENT PAUL WRAY DIES ON VISIT HERE

Former Grinnellian Paul Wray, 51, Grimes, died suddenly while visiting in Grinnell Monday afternoon.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Yeates of the Westminister United Presbyterian church of Des Moines officiating. Mrs. Rhee Auman was organist.

Pallbearers were Howard Anderson, Peter Anderson, Orval Clark, Richard Conant, Milton Magnason and Clair Strand. Interment was at Hazelwood cemetery.

Mr. Wray was the son of Charles and Elizabeth Hamilton Wray, now of Ithaca, N.Y. and was born at Kellogg, on March 20, 1907. On January 14, 1929, he was united in marriage with Ivah Mildred Osborn in Grinnell.

Associated with the grocery business most of his life, Mr. Wray first started work in the Reed Thompson grocery store at Turner when only 13. At 15 he started work for the Link Thompson grocery in Grinnell, managed the United store in Grinnell, later moving to Des Moines where he was associated with United Food Markets in the supervision and sales department until his retirement in 1953.

Mr. Wray was a member of the Westminister United Presbyterian church and was also a member of the Acanthus Masonic lodge, Corinthian chapter of the Royal Arch Masons, Temple Commanders of the Knights Templar, and the Za-Ga-Zig shrine, all of Des Moines. He was also a member of the Lions Club at Johnston.

His wife preceded him in death only last year.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Angus (Janice) Campbell III of Des Moines, a son Jack of Grimes, his parents, a sister, Mrs. Frank Mayo of Ithaca, N.Y., and two brothers, Laird of Grinnell and Fred of Ithaca, N.Y.
