MRS. ETHEL PEARCE SERVICES FRIDAY

Mrs. Ethel Pearce, wife of Frank H. Pearce, of Grinnell, died Sunday, February 19, at San Gabriel, California, where she was visiting her daughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday at the Smith funeral home, with the Rev. David Beggs, of the Mayflower Home, officiating. Burial will be in Westfield cemetery.

She was born April 25, 1880, at Bisham Marlow, England, the daughter of Edward A. and Matilda Brown Hargreaves. She was one of the family of five sons, three daughters. She also had one half-sister and one half-brother.

At the age of 1-1/2, the family came to the United States and settled near Gardner, Oregon, where she resided for 18 years and received her early education. She lived in British Columbia for two years before moving to Illinois. Later she moved to Grinnell, where she was united in marriage with Frank Pearce on August 22, 1905.

To this union were born nine children: William E. Pearce of Jefferson, Iowa; Mrs. Matilda Morrison, of San Gabriel, California; (Wilma) Mrs. Ray Maine, of Des Moines; Mrs. (Myrtle) Martin Pearce of Grinnell; (Ethel Mae) Mrs. Paul Morrison of Minot, North Dakota; George Pearce of Van Nuys, California; (Gladys) Mrs. Francis Keller, Sigourney; Iowa; and Loren Arthur who preceded her in death at the age of 2-1/2.

Survivors include her husband, Frank and 26 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Pearce was a charter member of the Westfield Grange, and was a member of the Westfield Congregational church and the Westfield Ladies Aide. She and her husband had been visiting their daughter, Matilda at San Gabriel since 1959.
