FRANK PEARCE, 93, SUCCUMBS SUNDAY IN CALIFORNIA

Frank H. Pearce, 93, former resident of the Westfield community, died Sunday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Matilda Morrison, in San Gabriel, Calif.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Westfield Community church with the Rev. David Beggs officiating. Vocal music will be by Miss Judy St. Clair.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Dale, Harold Brown, Jacob Krumm, Warren Lincoln, Don Niemants and James Peak. Burial will be in Westfield cemetery. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.

He was the son of Matilda Brown and C. William Pearce and was born Dec. 10th, 1867, on the Pearce farm across the road from the Westfield church. He attended Westfield No. 9 church near his home.

On Aug. 22nd, 1905, he was united in marriage with Ethel Frances Hargraves in Grinnell. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom survive: William E. of Jefferson; Mrs. Matilda Morrison of San Gabriel, Calif.; Mrs. Ray (Wilma) Main of Des Moines; Mrs. Rex (Myrtle) Frank of Long Beach, Calif.; Martin of Grinnell; Mrs. Paul (Ethel Mae) Morrison of Minot, N.D.; George of Sepulveda, Calif.; and Mrs. Francis (Gladys) Keller of Sigourney.

Mr. Pearce had lived in the Westfield and Grinnell vicinity all of his life except for the last few years when he and his wife lived in California. He was active in affairs of the Westfield neighborhood and church and was a charter member of the Westfield Grange.

Survivors include his eight children, 26 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Mae Nicholl of Grinnell and Mrs. Nellie Rutherford of Cloverdale, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel on Feb. 19th of this year; one son, Loren Arthur at the age of 2-1/2; and three brothers.
