Obituary dated March 7, 1911

ELIZABETH GRIFFITH DEMING

Elizabeth Griffith Deming was born in Williamsburg, Ind., Nov. 2, 1826, and died Feb. 26, 1911, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 24 days.

She was married at Williamsburg to John Deming, Jan. 8th, 1857.

They moved to Iowa in 1857, where on a farm in Polk Co. they made their home for several years, moving in 1867 to Grinnell where they made their home until the decease of Mr. Deming in July, 1902.

To this union were born nine children, three of whom survive her, as follows: Mrs. Frank Fentress, Norfolk, Neb., at whose home she died; Mrs. Warren Waring, Grinnell, and Walter T. Deming, Grinnell.

Of those deceased, Clay Deming who recently passed away in Kansas, and Mrs. F.J. Fitzgerald, deceased in, 1905, will be best remembered by the friends in this vicinity.

Mrs. Deming was a member of the United Brethren Church in Oskaloosa, Kansas.

She was a good woman, a self-sacrificing mother, an excellent neighbor and friend.

Funeral sermon at Westfield Union Chuch, March 1st. and interment at the adjacent cemetery.
