MRS. JOHNSON RITES TUESDAY

Mrs. Josephine Johnson, 87, widow of Bert Johnson, died Friday evening, Feb. 11, at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home. She had been in failing health for a number of years and had been hospitalized since 1964.

The daughter of George and Lydia Roberts Parmenter, she was born in Hickory Grove Township, Jasper County, March 3, 1884. She attended rural schools near her home and attended Grinnell High School after her family moved to Grinnell.

She was married to Albert E. Johnson June 29, 1916, in Grinnell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Brande Bible Class, the Isabella Brande Guild and the Post Office Auxiliary.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sister, Mrs. Howard (Florence) Hyde; two nieces, Mrs. Norma Drake of Corvallis, Ore., and Mrs. Grace Webb of Tygh Valley, Ore.; and four nephews, Paul Worcester of Grinnell, Elbert Parmenter of La Crescenta, Calif.; Harold Parmenter of Eugene, Ore., and Russell Parmenter of Dallas, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband Bert March 4, 1949; a brother, Marcus Parmenter; a sister, Mrs. Rosella Worcester; and a nephew, Morris Parmenter.

Services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
