PASSING OF REV. GEORGE M. BEELER

Many readers of the Herald and friends of the Beelers will regret to know of the death of Rev. George Morgan Beeler who died a few days ago at Seattle, Washington. Mr. Beeler was a brother of our friend and old timer in this vicinity, John S. Beeler of Washington Township. During the '80s Mr. Beeler was a school teacher in this county for several years and then studied for and entered the ministry in which position he has served for the past forty years. The following clipping from the Wallingford Hill Outlook speaks of his long years of work in the church and of his successful service:

OBITUARY

The Rev. George Morgan Beeler, pioneer church worker and retired minister of the United Brethren Church, died Wednesday at his home, 4522 Meridan Ave. He had been in the ministry for years, his first service being pioneer work in Kansas, and came to the coast about nineteen years ago. He had been in and out of Seattle during the past fourteen years, and made his permanent home here, although his church work on the coast was in the Oregon conference of the United Brethren church. He was born in the state of Iowa.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Effie Mae Beeler, and three sons, Dr. G.W. Beeler, 1722 North 47th St., Seattle, and Kenneth and Norman Beeler of Willamette, Oregon and four daughters, Mrs. Aerle Alcorn of Pasadena, Mrs. C.C. Lamb, Mrs. Ralph Tetherow and Mrs. Mark Miller of Portland, Ore.

With the Rev. G.L. Bender of Portland, Oregon, former pastor of the Wallingford United Brethren church, officiating, funeral services are to be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Butterworth chapel. Mrs. Pattison is to sing and N.O. Dudgeon and Mrs. Pearl Collier will sing a duet. Mrs. Charles Huestis will play the pipe organ. The prayer will be by the Rev. G.K. Hartman, pastor of the Wallingford United Brethren Church. This will be a public service to which all the friends of the Rev. Beeler are invited and family services will be held at Evergreen cemetery.
