A PIONEER OF BLUE POINT DIES

A pioneer resident of the Blue Point neighborhood was laid to rest on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 15, 1934, when funeral services were held at the Blue Point Methodist church for Mrs. Addison Kline. The service was in charge of the Rev. George Blagg assisted by a quartet of singers from Ewart. Six grandsons, Chester and Forrest Kline, Laverne and Rex Kline, Sinclair and Lyle Goreham, served as pallbearers and burial was made in the cemetery near the church.

Nancy E. Taylor was born Oct. 1, 1853, in North Carolina, and passed away Feb. 13, 1934, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lora Goreham, at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 13 days. Her husband, Addison Kline, with whom she was united in marriage Jan. 30, 1876, preceded her in death March 26, 1903. Eight children were born to this marriage, two of whom died in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Lena Sheehy, died Feb. 10, 1931. Four sons and one daughter mourn her decease. They are: W.O. Kline, Austin, Minn.; F.I. Kline, Long Beach, Calif.; Matt A. Kline, Alba Kline, and Mrs. Lora Goreham of Grinnell. One sister, Mrs. Ella Beeler, and two brothers, W.A. Taylor and F.M. Taylor, all of Grinnell. There are twenty-eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The parents of Mrs. Kline moved from North Carolina to the Blue Point community when she was but two years old. Here Mrs. Kline grew to womanhood and lived until her passing. She was a sharer in all the difficulties of pioneer life and is numbered among that great company that carried on during the days of Civil war and the settling of new territory. She was for many years a member of the Blue Point church. She had been failing since December and for the past two weeks was bedfast. The burial service was attended by a large company of friends and neighbors who held her in great esteem.
