The Grinnell (IA) Herald; Oct. 31, 1905

--On Sunday afternoon Marion Swartz (Swart) died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.P. (J.P.) Swartz (Swart), on south West street in this city, of pulmonary trouble. Until very recently he had been performing his duties as rural mail carrier for route No. 4, but was stricken with hemorrhage of the lungs last week. The deceased was born in Boone county, Iowa, twenty-six years ago. His father and mother, a brother from State Center and a married sister from Clinton, all of whom are in the city, mourn his loss. Funeral services were held from the house this afternoon conducted by the Rev. J.M. McClelland. The pall bearers were Max Plambeck, George Dunning, Earl A. Dunn, C. Sharp, Eugene Holmes and Arthur Marvin. The deceased was for some years employed in the Glove Factory but has in recent years been a rural mail carrier. He has been known as a steady, reliable and industrious young man who could be relied upon by his employers. His associates at the post office have but words of praise for his reliabilty and strict attention to his duties. He leaves a large number of friends who join with the family in mourning his early death. To them we extend our deepest sympathy in their hour of sorrow.
