J.P. SWART WAS BURIED MONDAY

The funeral of the late J.P. Swart was held from the Methodist Church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. George Blagg, officiating. Interment was made in Hazelwood cemetery. Pall bearers were Messrs. Evans, Thompson, Nicols, Quivey, Stoaks, Dittmer. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Phillips of Conrad, Iowa, long time friends of the family, Miss Flora Walker at the piano.

J.P. Swart was born Dec. 28, 1851 and died Dec. 4, 1925. Had he lived till Dec. 28 he would have been seventy-four years old.

He was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Zollars near Waynesburg, Pa., Sept. 16, 1875.

To this union were born four children. One son, Marion N. Swart preceded him in death twenty years ago. He is survived by his wife, and three children, eleven grand children, three great grand children, five sisters and two brothers, as follows: wife, Mrs. J.P. Swart of Grinnell; son, A.T. Swart of Dickens, Iowa; daughters, Mrs. Geo. Richardson, Clinton, Mrs. Clyde Chadwell, Newburg; a grandson, Ross Swart of Marshalltown who has lived as a son in the home of his grandfather; sisters, Mrs. Frank McClure, Maxwell, Ia., Mrs. Wilbur Wilkenson and Misses Jane, Ann and Maude Swart; brothers Grant and John, all of Collins, Iowa.

Mr. Swart farmed for many years north of Grinnell moving to Grinnell March 1, 1897. Until the last seven years he had served the public as grocery delivery-man, driving an oil wagon and later a bread wagon. His kind and genial nature made him friends with all. To know him was to love him. His friends are numberless. He has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years.
