FUNERAL TUESDAY FOR ORVILLE ALLEN

Funeral services for Orville Allen were held Tuesday, August 31, from the Steffy Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Jacobs officiating. Leslie Steele sang two numbers accompanied by Mrs. William Landstrum.

Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery with Wilbur Allen, Max Allen, Emil Allen, Warren James, Kenneth Fayer and Larry Allen serving as casket bearers.

Orville Thomas Allen, son of James W. and Edith Allen, was born near Searsboro, Oct. 20, 1898. His health began failing a few years ago and he died at his home near Deep River on August 28. He was 66.

He attended rural school and his entire life has been spent in farming near Searsboro, Montezuma, New Sharon and Deep River.

Mr. Allen married Bertha Fayer on April 30, 1927, in Oskaloosa.

Orville was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Woodmen of the World.

He is survived by his wife and their two sons, Arlen of Rock Island, Ill., and Ronald of Deep River; two daughters, Wilma Ervin, of Ackworth, Iowa, and Myrna Bond, of Milan, Ill.; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Cleora Johnston, of Deep River, and Lenice Walsh, of Barnes City; three brothers, Afton and Clitus Allen, of Searsboro, and Cyril Allen, of New Sharon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons; a brother, Ival, and one sister, Zola.
