OBITUARY.

MRS. JOHN GREGSON

Elsie, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Akers, was born west of Gilman, Jan. 2, 1890, and died at the home of her parents at Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Dec. 31, 1915, at the age of 25 years, 11 months, and 29 days.

Her health became impaired about a year ago, and she rapidly declined until her young life faded out like a flower plucked before its time, tuberculosis being the direct cause of her death.

Most of her life was spent in the vicinity of Gilman and Grinnell. She graduated from the Grinnell high school in 1908, and the year following she graduated from the Marshalltown Commercial college.

She taught one term of school in Laurel and one term at the high school in Searsboro.

Nov. 11, 1913, she was united in marriage to Mr. John Gregson, and to them was born one little daughter, Frances, who is left motherless at the age of 17 months. They made their home in Grinnell until about six months ago, when she went to Tennessee in the hope that the change of climate would benefit her.

Elsie was essentially a home loving girl, a friend of everyone and everyone her friend. An obedient daughter, a fond and loving mother, and a kind and true wife. To know her was to love and respect her.

She bore her sickness with a smile and with more patience than many another of a riper age.

She was a convert of the United Brethren church and died as she lived, a tried and true Christian.

In addition to her husband and baby daughter, Elsie is survived by her parents, two brothers and one sister, besides a host of warm friends.

Funeral service was held at the home of her parents in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Jan. 2, 1916, after which the body was shipped to Gilman and a more extended service was held at the Methodist church in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends, Rev. Westphal officiating, and her body was then laid to rest in the Prairie View cemetery.
