Was the Son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Radford--Graduated from Grinnell High in 1917.

Sad news came to Grinnell in a telegram to C.A. Blair from his son Alex of Los Angeles, announcing that Charles Radford, of Riverside, Calif., had been killed in an aviation accident on Labor Day. No other particulars have been received.

The tragedy brings to a close a life of great promise. Mr. Radford was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Radford, formerly of this city. He came to Grinnell when a boy and graduated from Grinnell high school in 1917, entering the army at once in the aviation service and becoming a qualified pilot.

Since the war his life has been in California. He was a Boy Scout executive and was popular and happy in his work. He is survived by a wife and three little girls.

Alex Blair married Maude Radford, a sister, and wired that they were caring for two of the little girls during this time of great sorrow.

"Chuck" Radford was a star football player on the high school team here and a young man of singularly likeble qualities. All who knew him will regret to learn of his untimely fate.
