GEORGE A. MITCHELL

George A. Mitchell was born in Poweshiek county, September 15, 1876, and died at Grinnell, February 16, 1912. He was married, February 15, 1902, to Miss Callie Grubb at Grinnell. One son was born, Daniel G. Mitchell, who with the wife and mother survives. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and in the midst of many vicissitudes and great injustice endeavored to maintain right relations to society and the church. He was devoted to his home and it was in defense of this sacred trust that he met his great sorrow and much bodily injury, which with his later experiences made him a chronic sufferer and brought his death at the early age of 36. Latterly he regretted the fact that he was unable to work so as to support his family, but like a true man he met the great enemy and maintained that he was not afraid to die. He was an honest, true-hearted, loving husband and father. His wife and boy have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.

The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Doctor Stoddard on last Saturday and interment was at Forest Home.
