AN OBITUARY OF WM. T. RICHARDSON
(From the Gilman Dispatch)

William Theodore Richardson was born in Indiana April 15, 1851. In 1856 his parents came to Iowa and settled in the vicinity of Colo, where the deceased grew to manhood. November 19, 1871, he was united in marriage with Ruey Ann McClure who preceded him in death August, 1911. Soon after his marriage he was converted and united with the Church of God at Colo, of which his wife was already a member.

In March, 1881, he with his family moved to Newburg, and his church membership was transferred to the organization at that place, and he retained his membership there until the time of his death. He was faithful in his duties as a Christian and served in official capacities in the church at different times.

In August, 1913, he was married to Mrs. Catherine Hite of Gilman, and after a year or two moved to Gilman, where he worshiped with the people of the Methodist church.

Early last spring he suffered a light stroke, and from that time on rapidly declined in health. He spent considerable time during the summer at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M.E. Phillips, of Conrad, where he passed away at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov.19, 1930, at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 4 days.

He is survived by his three children, Mrs. M.E. Phillips, Conrad; George of Belle Plaine; Frank of Clinton; also his wife of Gilman, five step-children and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The funeral, in charge of Rev. Mr. Masemore, pastor of Alice church, Grundy county, was held Saturday. Brief prayer service was held at the Phillips home at Conrad at noon, followed by the funeral service at the Church of God Bethel, in Newburg. Many friends were in attendance. Burial was in the family lot in Chester Center cemetery.

Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Phillips, son Wendel and daugher Evalyn, Conrad; Mrs. Catherine Richardson, Clair Waltemeyer and family, Gilman; William Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. Ed O'Brien, Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Douglas, son Bobby and daughter, Mary Jane, Grinnell.
